Tornado Warning Issued for Northwest Hillsborough, Western Pasco Counties

It will remain in effect until 2 p.m. today as heavy storms move into the area.

 

The National Weather Service has upgraded its tornado watch for northwestern Hillsborough and western Pasco counties to a warning.

A warning “is issued when a tornado is indicated by the WSR-88D radar or sighted by spotters; therefore, people in the affected area should seek safe shelter immediately,” according to the weather service’s website.

Heavy storms related to Tropical Storm Debby are making their way through the Tampa Bay area today. The service has also issued a tornado watch until 8 p.m. today.
