Tampa Electric at Fault for Gaither Student's Fall from Power Pole, Lawsuit Alleges

Boy became paralyzed after fall in 2009

Two years ago, Alexander "Avi" Davidson climbed a utility pole at the Northdale Soccer Field to take some photographs.

But when the 16-year-old came in contact with a power line, he was tossed onto the ground from a shock. The injury left him paralyzed.

Now, a lawsuit has been filed by attorney Barry Cohen that alleges that Tampa Electric Company is negligent for Davidson's accident.

Said TECO spokesman Rick Morera: “This accident was a terrible tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Avi and his family.  However, we do not believe that our company is to blame for this incident and we expect to vigorously defend ourselves.”
