Storms Knock Out Power in Parts of the Bay Area

Poor weather conditions are expected to continue through the evening.

Power is out in portions of the Tampa Bay area as a large storm system makes its way through the area. While no outages have been reported in the Carrollwood or Northdale areas, forecasters say the worst might be yet to come.

More than 1,600 people were without power in the Town ‘N Country area earlier this afternoon, according to TBO.com, and the storms were just getting started. The National Weather Service’s radar for the Tampa Bay area shows scattered storms throughout most of the Bay area now. Channel 8 forecasters anticipate the storms to lessen this afternoon, but a second line is expected late tonight.

"The timing and strength are still wildcards, but thankfully the chance of severe weather continues to be marginal with no watches posted so far," said Channel 8’s Brooks Garner. "But this system has packed the most ‘potential’ for severe weather all spring."
