Humane Society Founder Appearing on Animal Hoarding TV Show

Carol Childs runs the NHS in Carrollwood

Carol Childs has assisted in a number of animal rescues over the years, and takes pride in her role as founder of Carrollwood's National Humane Society, a local nonprofit at 4039 Gunn Highway.

On Wednesday, Childs will be in the national spotlight when she appears on "Confessions: Animal Hoarding" at 10 p.m. on Wednesday on Animal Planet.

According to Larisa Andrews, co-producer of Driving The Bus Productions II, Inc., the show "explores stories of people who own more pets than they can care for." She said the series "brings families together to voluntarily find humane solutions that work for both pets and people."

The NHS in Carrollwood assisted in the rescue of 29 cats that came from the home of a hoarder in Florida over Easter weekend when Animal Planet’s “Confessions: Animal Hoarding” produced an episode at the home.

As a result of the large influx of cats, Childs says the need for food, clay litter, paper plates and other care items had been increased and supplies were much depleted.

Donations at any time are most welcome, but assistance to rebuild supplies is needed, and there are many kittens available to adopt.
