Holiday Events At The Carrollwood Cultural Center

The month of December is filled with seasonal productions and art events.

Looking to celebrate the holidays by appreciating the arts? The Carrollwood Cultural Center will host a holiday themed staged reading, an educational performance for children and several seasonal concerts this December.

The Center, a partnership between Hillsborough County and the Friends of Carrollwood Cultural Center, is located at 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa.

Carrollwood Cultural Center’s Big Band Dance Features The Sounds Of Swing On Dec. 1

What: Big band concert and dance

When: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m.; Free dance lessons at 6:30 p.m.

Advance Tickets: $11 /members; $14 /non-members; $13 /seniors (65+)

Day of Show Tickets: $13 /members; $16 /non-members; $15 /seniors (65+)

Wine Tasting and Performance Package (available until Nov. 26): $19/members; $22 /non-members

The Sounds of Swing will have a special guest who wears red and says, “Ho Ho Ho,” and even plays the saxophone. In addition, the Carrollwood Cultural Center is teaming up with Time for Wine to offer a pre-show wine tasting package before the event. The wine tasting will start at 6:30 p.m. and participants must be 21 or older.

Carrollwood Cultural Center Presents Shana Banana’s Merry Chriskwanzanukah On Dec.9

What:  Interactive, educational music show for children

When: Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. 

Admission: $6 /members; $7 /non-members; $24 /family four-pack

Children’s entertainer, Shana Banana, will tell stories and sing songs about the many cultures represented in America. and how each culture is celebrated during the December holidays.

MAS Community Theatre Presents Tim and Scrooge At Carrollwood Cultural Center On Dec. 13

 What: Music sequel to A Christmas Carol

When: Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Admission: $8 /members and non-members

The MAS Community Theatre will present Tim and Scrooge, its first staged reading and rousing music sequel to A Christmas Carol  on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Carrollwood Cultural Center.

Carrollwood Cultural Center’s Jazz With Jim Concert On Dec. 14  With Special Guests Jordon Sanders Hawkins And Cole Hazlitt

What: Jazz with Jim monthly concert series

When: Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Day of Show Tickets: $14 /members; $18 /non-members; $16 /students

(All ticket prices include one complimentary beverage.)

Jim Burge and the Jazz Directions will present Jazz with Jim on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. This month’s concert will welcome special guests, Jordon Sanders Hawkins and Cole Hazlitt. Hawkins attends Braden River High School and is a singer with Soul Sensations of Sarasota. Hazlitt attends Tarpon Springs High School and plays the vibraphone and drums with the Ruth Eckerd Youth Jazz Band.

Jazz with Jim is a monthly concert hosted by local musician and former Hillsborough Community College instructor and Director of Music, Jim Burge. These concerts are best known for fusing the musicians’ personal stories with popular jazz tunes suited for that month’s theme. Patrons can purchase home-baked goods donated by the Center’s volunteers, which completes the intimate ambience.

The Carrollwood Cultural Center Community Chorus And Broadway Bound Presents A Winter Concert On Dec. 16

What: Young performers of Broadway Bound and Carrollwood Cultural Center Community Chorus reunite for their annual holiday event

When: Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.

Day of Show Tickets: $10/members; $14/non-members

The Carrollwood Cultural Center will host a winter concert presented by the Carrollwood Cultural Community Chorus and Broadway Bound on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.

Carrollwood Cultural Center Presents A Motown Christmas With The Sounds Of Soul On Dec. 21

What: A Motown Christmas featuring the Sounds of Soul

Back by popular demand, the Sounds of Soul will present an exciting high-energy show featuring superior vocals and dance moves powered by holiday classics from Motown.

Celebrate the holidays during this annual holiday concert with the Carrollwood Winds on Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. The Carrollwood Winds is a concert band comprised of local community members.
