  • Today kicks off hurricane season in Florida. If you have tips you want to share with the community on how to stay prepared, let us know! Send an email to camille.spencer@patch.com.
  • If you're a member of the Carrollwood Area Business Association, stop by the "CABA: Meet the Candidates Breakfast" from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. today at Edgar Guzman Law Group, 8301 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Get to know who is running on the CABA board and get your important questions answered.
  • A public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Northdale Recreation Center, 15550 Spring Pine Drive in Northdale, regarding the future of the county's recreation centers. A county official will discuss a proposal during the meeting. If you can't attend, check out live tweets we'll provide you on Twitter (@cwoodpatch) starting at 6 p.m.
  • The Tampa Writer's Alliance will feature John Foster at 7 p.m. today at 11802 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Foster will do a hands-on workshop titled "The Funny Bone in Poetry - or - Probing for the Humerus."
  • Attention, seniors! Mark your calendars for Hillsborough County's free spring fling and painting and craft festival from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on June 7 at University Area Community Center, 14013 N. 22nd St. Space is limited, and registration is required.
