Five Things to Know on Tuesday, May 3, from Food Drives to Free Music

A daily digest on Patch

Here are five things you can do or learn more about:

  • A public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday regarding after school programs that are sponsored by Hillsborough County. The meeting will be held at the Northdale Recreation Center, 15550 Spring Pine Drive in Northdale.
  • Speaking of Northdale, a free event will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday at the same location. The White Hot Grill will provide music. Bring your own lawn chairs and snacks.
  • Get out those canned goods on Saturday, May 14. The 19th Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive will be held - at your mailbox. The idea is to "Stamp Out Hunger" by allowing your mail carrier to collect non-perishable food donations as they deliver along their postal routes. To help out, place your donation on or near your mailbox, and your postal worker will do the rest.
  • Do you work for a nonprofit, or volunteer at one? Your organization could be profiled in a story on Patch. So far, we've profiled organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and the National Humane Society. E-mail us your suggestions and contact information to camille.spencer@patch.com.
  • Finally, find us on Twitter (@cwoodpatch) and Facebook (Carrollwood Patch fan page).
