Crime Mapping Application on HCSO's Website

HCSO's new Crime Mapping application allows users to search county-wide crime information by selecting location, date range, and type of crime.

The Sheriff's Office has a new internet-based crime mapping application, available on the Online Inquiries page of our public website, at www.hcso.tampa.fl.us. The application allows its users to access and locate county-wide crime data by defining three specific search perimeters: place, time, and crime type. Results can be displayed either in clusters or as individual points on a map. The number of crime types are sorted and displayed in a pie chart to the left of the screen. When users hover over an individual point on the map, a window appears that provides the crime type summary, details, and an opportunity for users to submit a tip online via Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay. It should be noted that victim names are not included in the search results and incident locations are generalized to a block number, instead of the specific street address. Users also have the capability to convert the map into an Adobe .PDF file or export the data into an Excel spreadsheet. To try the Crime Mapping application for yourself, please visit http://gis.hcso.tampa.fl.us/crimemapping/.
