Crime Mapping Application on HCSO's Website

The Sheriff's Office has a new internet-based crime mapping application, available on the Online Inquiries page of our public website, at www.hcso.tampa.fl.us. The application allows its users to access and locate county-wide crime data by defining three specific search perimeters: place, time, and crime type. Results can be displayed either in clusters or as individual points on a map. The number of crime types are sorted and displayed in a pie chart to the left of the screen. When users hover over an individual point on the map, a window appears that provides the crime type summary, details, and an opportunity for users to submit a tip online via Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay. It should be noted that victim names are not included in the search results and incident locations are generalized to a block number, instead of the specific street address.
