Village Center Publix Rebuild Plans Moving Along

The new Publix is expected to open in early 2014. Where are you getting your shopping done during the store's absence?

Carrollwood residents accustomed to whipping into the Village Center Publix to grab bakery treats, deli sandwiches or weekly groceries have been out of luck since late March.

But, there’s good news on the horizon.

Plans to demolish the old store and build a new one on the site are moving along, say officials from Publix.

Brian West, spokesman for Publix, says the new location is still slated to open in the first quarter of 2014. When it does, customers can expect a lot of changes.

West says the spanking new Publix will feature an updated décor package.

Plans also call for the 49,000-square-foot location at 13178 N. Dale Mabry Highway to have a number of new features, such as a salad bar, Wi-Fi service, expanded produce department, a full-service floral shop and more.

“We're very excited for our customers in the Carrollwood area,” West said. “We look forward to continuing to bring them premiere customer service from a brand new store.”
