Verizon Hosting Family Appreciation Event in Carrollwood

The event takes place Oct. 6.

A Verizon-sponsored video contest will culminate in October with a family friendly customer appreciation event and announcement of the winner at the Carrollwood store.

The company plans to unveil the winning family of its "Families on FiOS" video contest at the 12400 N. Dale Mabry Highway store from noon until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6.

The winner of the region-wide contest, which began in August, will receive a technology makeover valued at $9,000 that includes items such as a laptop, one year of FiOS service and a $500 gift card, according to Verizon officials.

The contest began a few months ago when Verizon asked families to film how technology influences and improves their lives. Top videos were voted on by the public.

The event on Oct. 6 will also include free food, a bounce house, balloon artists and games.
