Publix Gone, But Other Stores Remain Open

The anchor store at the end of the Village Center plaza is gone, but smaller shops are still open for business. Check out scenes from the demolition included in this story.

Retailers like the Book Swap, Walgreens and Wild Birds Unlimited are still open for business.

Pull into the South Village Drive entrance, however, and the first thing you’re likely to notice are construction barriers meant to protect shoppers from the ongoing work on the plaza’s south end. A big sign at that entrance reminds shoppers that The Melting Pot is also still open for hungry diners with a taste for fondue.
