Locals React to Gus' Cafe Shutting its Doors

The Northdale restaurant was a favorite for the community

For years, it had been a Northdale staple.

But last month's closing of Gus' Cafe at 3871 Northdale Boulevard in the Northdale Shoppes plaza has locals occupying alternative eateries at lunchtime.

The local sentiment about the news is evident on the Gus' Cafe Facebook page, where regulars weighed in on the page's wall about the demise of the business at 3871 Northdale Boulevard.

Wrote Annette Nelson Hillring: "We are so saddened! Just went there for our usual Monday evening dinner and found Gus' closed. We sure hope you are able to re-open somewhere...we and all our family will come. We have been regulars since you first opened in Tampa. We miss you already!"

Melissa Tinkerbell-Fluttershy Mastrototaro agreed.

"Oh! So sad! We went there for lunch today after just having your amazing food for the first time 3 weeks ago.. we were devastated to find out you had closed.. please open a new location."

And Damien M. Rodriguez said, "Grew up in Northdale and loved this restaurant! Would drive up from South Tampa just to eat here. Was so disappointed when I arrived there last weekend and saw the closed sign. Best house dressing and tortellini ala pana."

Much like the late last year, we want to pose a question to readers:

Do you think another business should replace Gus' Cafe, or do you hope it re-opens?
