Carmel Cafe Wine Dinners Celebrating Iberian Peninsula

This just in from officials at Carmel Cafe & Wine Bar:

Carmel Café & Wine Bar’s August wine dinners will celebrate the food and wine of Spain’s Iberian Peninsula. From the northern lush mountainous regions to the southern coastal towns, the gastronomy and wine is varied and adventurous.

The wine dinners will be 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, at Carmel Café & Wine Bar locations in Countryside/Clearwater, Carrollwood/Tampa and its newest location in Sarasota. Cost is $59.95 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Space is limited and reservations are required.  

Carmel Café Executive Chef Steve Cook’s Spanish-themed Mod Med (modern Mediterranean) small plates will complement the Sommelier-paired wines from Spain.

First Course:

• Vilarnau Cava Rose (Macabeo, Parellada & Xarel.lo grapes)
• Spicy Shrimp Gazpacho

Second Course:

• Penedes Artazuri Granacha (Granacha grapes)
• Gnocchi with Brown Butter Sauce and Crisp Serrano Cup

Third Course:

• Navarra Garcia Figuero “12 month” Crianza (Tempranillo grapes)
• Basque Seafood Stew

Fourth Course:

• Ribera del Duero Artardi “Vinedos del El Seque” (75% Monastrell, 15% Syrah & 10% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes)
• Steak Soffritto

      Fifth Course:

• Alicante Bodegas Pinord “+7” (Cabernet Sauvignon, Granacha & Syrah grapes) - Priorat
• Churros with Spiced Chocolate Dip

Carmel Café & Wine Bar restaurants are open for lunch 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, in addition to brunch from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Each location serves dinner 5 - 10 p.m. Monday - Thursday, 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 – 9 p.m. on Sundays.
