CABA Elects New Board of Directors

Election results were announced today at Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar in Carrollwood.

On Wednesday morning, the Carrollwood Area Business Association announced winners of its during a members-only breakfast at Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar.

Of the 305-members of CABA, an organization comprised of north Tampa's business owners and professionals, 47 percent of members voted, said Maria Patterson, executive director.

The winners, who will attend an annual awards installation dinner for CABA members on July 25 at Emerald Greens Golf Resort & Country Club, are:

  • Wendell Hock, president-elect (four candidates ran for one position)
  • Tim Castle, treasurer (unopposed)
  • Adrienne Venable, secretary (unopposed)
  • Board of directors (six people were elected out of eight candidates after Chuck DiPierro withdrew): Jeff Ryder, Ann Mickel, Lynda Damiata, Robert Cunningham, Mary Clawson and Steve Balasko

Lea Orchard automatically took the reins as president, replacing Noreen Klein, who became immediate past president.

Klein said the board of directors who served under her were a "great support" for her, and thanked them for their service during the standing-room only breakfast.

Orchard, who runs three Great Clips locations in Tampa Bay, said she is excited about her new role with CABA.

"I really look forward to this year with this board," Orchard said. "We're going to grow CABA."

Hock, whose position as president-elect places him in line to become the next CABA president, hugged other CABA members after the election results were announced. Hock said he's grateful for the opportunity to lead the organization.

"I want to bring excitement back to CABA," he said. "I want to enhance membership and help the community and local businesses."
