Boston’s Rolling Out Red Carpet for Wounded Soldiers

The local eatery is playing host to a fundraiser for Operation Helping Hand May 21.

Customers who show up to Boston’s Restaurant and Sports Bar on Tuesday, May 21 in search of a meal will find the eatery closed for regular business.

That doesn’t mean, however, they can’t come in and join the party.

In celebration of its seventh anniversary, Boston’s, 9316 Anderson Road, is playing host to its annual charity fundraising night. This year’s beneficiary is Operation Helping Hand, a Tampa-based charity that raises money to help wounded active duty military personnel and their families. Operation Helping Hand is also celebrating its ninth anniversary this month.

The local Boston’s has made hosting a May fundraiser for an area charity a tradition since it opened, said Jana Regas, the director of marketing and sales for the eatery.

Charities selected are Tampa Bay-based and are those that can really benefit from the fundraising efforts, Regas said. The hope is that the amount of money raised is “really going to make a difference to that organization.”

So far, the restaurant has raised more than $100,000 for local charities, Regas said.

Boston’s has been supporting Operation Helping Hand for three years running. Regas grew up in a military family and said she appreciates the group’s dedication to wounded soldiers. Operation Helping Hand provides direct assistance to patients at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital.
