Want to Learn More About Astronomy?

Life Enrichment Center offers astronomy class and many others

Got a hankering for staring at the stars?

If so, the Life Enrichment Center, 9704 N. Boulevard in Forest Hills, has a class for you. The center is now registering for a new series of workshops on astronomy.

The next one will be titled "Space Art Workshop," which will allow participants to view the night sky through a telescope with astronomer Tanja Diederich. Those who attend can check out the moon, Jupiter and Orion Nebula.

After looking at various constellations, participants can come back into the LEC and create a space art painting with art teacher Tim Gibbons.

The workshop will be held on Monday, Feb. 7 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The cost for the workshop is $20 for members of the LEC and $25 for non-members. Materials will be supplied.

Annual membership at the center is $30.

Future workshops include: solar astronomy, viewing the sun through a telescope, night sky viewing and learning to use a star chart to navigate the stars, and a hands-on lesson on operating a telescope.

Class size is limited and requires advance registration. There are no refunds once classes begin.
