Theme park enthusiasts might say there are two kinds of people in the world: those who love roller coasters and those who don’t.
Some of those thrill ride lovers, however, might be singing a different tune this week after a snafu at Orlando’s Universal Studios left passengers onboard the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit for more than two hours. According to TBO.com, it’s unclear what caused the glitch, but park officials are investigating. In the meantime the ride will remain closed.
Park officials say the ride’s safety controls behaved exactly as they should have considering the glitch. The ride shut itself down. The rescue, however, took some time because a car carrying 12 people was stuck on the tracks, 150 feet in the air, in a vertical position.
