Dvorak’s “Te Deum”, composed in 1892 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Columbus’ first landing in the New World, is a wildly festive and celebratory setting of the Latin text that the Czech composerpremiered in New York with a choir of 250. Bruckner’s “Te Deum”, composed in 1884, is acrowning testament to his legacy, a great romantic work of immense power and spiritual depth.
