Art for the Environment - One Waterway, One Tampa Bay

This year’s Community Stepping Stones Mural is once again at the HCC Ybor City Art Gallery and runs from June 15 to June 28 (see hours below). Inspired by a grant from the Tampa Bay Estuary Program, our ambitious teens have built a 12’ x 8’  beautiful mosaic mural made from the plastic flotsam gathered at their beach clean-ups. You will be amazed by this work – guaranteed – IF you can swim through the sea of plastic bottles  installed at the entrance. You’ll walk away with whole new appreciation of how much trash doesn’t get recycled or sent to landfills – but instead ends up in our waterways.

The gallery is at 14th Street and Palm Avenue, Tampa, FL 33675. It’s open M,W-F 10am-4pm and Tuesday noon-7pm.

You can see photos of our students on learning field science, cleaning up beaches and making art to reflect what they’ve learned.
