Free Art Reception At Carrollwood Cultural Center On Sept. 9

The Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center will host a free reception celebrating the art exhibition by the North Tampa Arts League and September’s featured artist, Gainor Roberts. Many of the displaying artists will be present and available to discuss their work and the artistic process. Free hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.

The Gallery is free and open to the public every weekday during normal business hours.  The North Tampa Arts League exhibit will be on display throughout the month of September.

MAS Community Theatre’s First Production Come Blow Your Horn Takes The Stage In September

What: Stage Comedy: Neil Simon’s Come Blow Your Horn

When: Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.

Cost: $12 for Members; $15 for Non-Members;  $13 for Seniors 65+; All tickets $2 more at the door on the day of the show.

Come Blow Your Horn, Neil Simon’s first play, debuted in the United States in 1961. It is the story of how two brothers views on companionship transpose as one brother deals with heartbreak and the other becomes a ladies’ man.

Come Blow Your Horn is the first production for MAS Community Theatre, named after Carrollwood Cultural Center’s former Artistic Director, the late Mary Ann Scialdo.

Argentinean Wine Tasting Workshop At Carrollwood Cultural Center On Sept. 13

What: Wine Tasting Workshop

When: Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $20 for Carrollwood Cultural Center members; $20 for AAA members; $25 for non-members

Charles Visalli of Time for Wine will guide attendees on a journey of the senses, exploring Argentinean wines through tastes of wine paired with foods such as cheeses, crackers, fruits and sweets.

Local Musical Theatre Celebrity To Teach Voice Lessons At The Carrollwood Cultural Center Beginning Sept. 13

What: Voice lessons and audition preparation classes

When: Every Tuesday for 6 weeks, beginning Sept. 13

Cost: $67.50 for members; $75 for non-members

The Carrollwood Cultural Center is pleased to introduce new theatre and voice classes starting September 13 with local musical theatre celebrity Craig Hartfield. 

Hartfield, who has appeared at the Carrollwood Cultural Center with the New Tampa Players and Salerno Entertainment, will offer voice lessons on Tuesdays, from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. and an audition preparation class on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.  Each class will run for six weeks.

The Gallery At The Carrollwood Cultural Center Presents Free Art Lecture On Sept. 15

What: Art lecture about American Impressionists

When: Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

Cost: Free

On Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m., Gainor Roberts, Art Curator of The Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center, will present a free lecture on American Impressionists. Participants will learn about art colonies, rivalries between artists, and the works that they produced.

The Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center offers free lectures throughout the year for the general public, artists, and anyone who enjoys learning more about the artistic process and importance of art in our culture.  The Gallery is open to the public each weekday during normal business hours.  There is no cost to visit the Gallery.

Jazz With Jim Concert At Carrollwood Cultural Center On Sept. 16 To Feature Braden River High School Student

What: Jazz with Jim monthly concert series

When: Friday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $8 for members; $12 for non-members

Jim Burge and the Jazz Directions will welcome Braden River High School student Jordan Sanders Hawkins as their special guest musician during the September Jazz with Jim concert at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. Hawkins is the first tenor sax in the Braden River High School advanced jazz band, and is the co-manager of River Rhapsody, the high school’s elite performing choir.  Jazz with Jim is a monthly concert hosted by local musician and former Hillsborough Community College instructor and Director of Music, Jim Burge.

Patrons may purchase home baked goods donated by the Center’s volunteers, and a cash bar will also be available.

Unpainted Souls Concert And CD Release Party At Carrollwood Cultural Center On Sept. 23

What: Unpainted Souls Concert and CD Release Party

When:  Friday, September 23, 8:00pm

Advance Tickets: $8 for members; $10 for non-members; $6 for children under 18

Day of Show Tickets: $10 for members; $12 for non-members; $8 for children under 18

Carrollwood Cultural Center will host a CD release party and concert celebrating Unpainted Souls’ new album, Cigar City Fight.  Unpainted Souls has been featured on Napster, Indie Castle, and Respect My Music, and has performed at several Tampa venues and live on local radio.

First Annual Fore The Arts Golf Tournament To Benefit The Carrollwood Cultural Center On Sept. 26

What: Charity Golf Scramble for Carrollwood Cultural Center

When: Monday, Sept. 26; Registration at 7:30 a.m.; Shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Where: Emerald Greens Golf Resort & Country Club, 13903 Clubhouse Drive in Tampa

Cost: $100 per golfer; $360 per team of four

On September 26, Emerald Greens Golf Resort & Country Club will host a golf tournament benefitting the Friends of Carrollwood Cultural Center.  Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The tournament will follow a best ball scramble format with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. followed by an awards lunch at 1:30 p.m.

The cost to play is $100 for individual golfers and $360 for a team of four. Registration and sponsorship information is available online at www.carrollwoodcenter.org. Companies are invited to donate items for goodies bags and giveaways at the event.
