'Art Under the Trees' Show Coming Soon

The show and sale will benefit the Life Enrichment Center in Forest Hills

The Life Enrichment Center in Forest Hills is known for its acrylic painting classes and creative writing workshops.

Now, the nonprofit center is hosting a showcase of original painting, jewelry and pottery that can be purchased during an event from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Other items for sale at the fourth annual show include notecards, prints and glass items.

"It's an opportunity to show and sell their work, and mix with other artists," said Ronna Metcalf, executive director of the center.

One artist who has shown work at previous shows says she thinks the show is a cultural incentive for the community.

Dorothy Banker, of New Tampa, grew up painting with her mother, creating their own Christmas cards.

Now, Banker, who does acrylic and pastel work, as well as some charcoal and pencil. She said the center, and its offerings, are unique.

"The Life Enrichment Center is a place for adults to gather, work together and learn new things and meet new friends that enjoy like passions," she said.

Banker offered another reason for people to attend the show on Dec. 3.

"The center will offer an outstanding variety and quality of arts and crafts at affordable prices."
