What are Carrollwood Residents Doing for Labor Day?

Residents tell their plans for the upcoming holiday.

Did you know this year marks America’s 130th Labor Day celebration?

Though its inception wasn’t initially a nationwide holiday, the labor of the American worker was finally recognized with its own special day.

Labor Day, which falls this year on Sept. 3, is the signal that summer is over and that fall is just bounding round the corner. Children are back in school, and the football season is gearing up.

This year, whether thanks to the initial threat of Isaac or the descent of the mass of people on Tampa Bay for the Republican National Convention, Labor Day could be impacted by severe traffic and dramatic gas price increases.

An informal poll of local residents and businesses in this community of 35,000-plus people revealed that the average resident’s plan this year was to have no plan at all:

“No plans. I’m staying home, just in general this year.” Scott Boatwright, Subway
