Labor Day weekend is the last official weekend of summer, and is often filled with picnics and spending time outdoors. Many people around the Carrollwood area had other plans. Shopping was on the list, but not everyone headed to the mall. Car dealerships were busy with potential buyers and Lost Angels dog rescue attracted a large crowd of prospective dog owners at Petco on Saturday.
College football season kicked off Saturday with many fans gathering to watch the first games of the season at various locations around Carrollwood. A large group of Cornhuskers has been meeting at Beef O'Brady's on North Dale Mabry for 15 years. Gators fans began staking out their turf hours before their team's kickoff time.
Summer wasn't the only goodbye said over the Labor Day weekend. Tampa Bay lost former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Lee Roy Selmon on Sunday.
