The Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library offers more than just books.

Many people overlook public libraries these days, thinking they are just a place to check out books. Libraries offer much more, including classes, meeting spaces for groups and organizations, children's programs, free internet access either on their computers or via wi-fi on your laptop, movies on dvd, music and much more.

The Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library is offering e-book demonstrations December 28, 29 and 30 at various times throughout the day to help library patrons learn how to use their electronic devices, from Nook and Kindle to iPads and Androids, to download, organize and read books on their devices.

The Carousel Bookstore offers donated used books, movies and music at low prices to help support library programs. The bookstore hours vary somewhat from the library hours and is staffed entirely by volunteers.

One of the best parts about using the library for entertainment and learning options is the price. Most programs are free and the cost of checking out a book or movie is the time it takes to fill out the application for a library card.

For more information about programs at the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library, located at 2902 W. Bearss Ave., visit their website at hcplc.org or call 813-273-3652.
