Selmon Funeral Will Be Streamed Live; Memorial Up Until Sunday

The Pro Hall of Famer, 56, died on Sunday

The funeral service for former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Lee Roy Selmon, who died on Sunday after suffering a stroke last week, according to the St. Petersburg Times, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Idlewild Baptist Church, 18731 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz.

Tampa's ABC Action News plans to provide live coverage of the service on its website.

The church is about one mile north of the intersection of Van Dyke Road and North Dale Mabry Highway. Traffic on Dale Mabry may be a concern on Friday morning for Carrollwood residents before the 10 a.m. service. Those who want to attend are being asked to arrive early, since a large crowd is expected.

In addition to weighing in on Selmon's legacy on Patch, fans and mourners can visit a tribute area set up by the Bucs, USF Athletics and the Tampa Sports Authority, who have designated a tree-shaded mound in the middle of the mass transit drop-off turnaround on Dale Mabry Highway at Raymond James Stadium.

Flowers and cards in remembrance of Selmon have been placed there, and can be until Sept. 11.
