Patch Picks: Finding the Perfect Wine

Now that the weekend is here, check out a roundup of five places to find wines to complement any occasion.

Pizza, desserts, fish and seafood are all foods that can be complemented with a nice bottle of wine.

From reds and whites and everything in between, Carrollwood is teeming with places to expand your palate. For this edition of Patch Picks, we found five places that will expand the diversity of your wine collection.

1. , 11724 N. Dale Mabry Highway - Jenn’s has been a fixture in Carrollwood since 1998. Owner Jennifer Cloudman is a certified sommelier who hosts tastings on the first Saturday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

2. , 11401 N. Dale Mabry Highway - Carrollwood Fine Wine & Spirits features an extensive selection of wine. A wine consultant is available to assist customers with all of their pairing needs. Beer, liquor and cigars are also apart of the selection. If you’re in a hurry, pick up wine in the drive-thru.

3. , 4519 Gunn Highway - This location is located in the Westwood Plaza shopping center. Its convenient location next to the supermarket makes it a one-stop shop for all of your grocery and wine needs. The knowledgeable staff can help you match tonight’s dinner menu with the perfect wine.

4. , 13147 N. Dale Mabry Highway - The Fresh Market features an array of wonderful wines. Check out their website to research staff picks and top-rated wines. Or simply stop into the store to chat with the staff about their selection. Also available on their site are guides for party planning with wines, food and wine pairings and more.

5. , 4537 Lowell Road - In partnership with and, the Carrollwood Cultural Center is taking residents on trips to different locations using wine as the vehicle. The next destination is Argentina on Sept. 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants will sample wines from Argentina that are paired with appropriate foods. Tickets are $20 for members of the Carrollwood Cultural Center and AAA members. Tickets for non-members are $25. Pre-payment is required.
