GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview April 5-7

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Carrollwood-Northdale area.

Two well-known local artists, painter Peter Stilton and pianist Joseph Schwartz, will discuss and demonstrate the connections between music and art during an art opening for Stilton’s exhibit, Music of the Soul, on display through April at the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Rd., Tampa. The reception will take place Friday, April 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Stilton’s presentation, accompanied by Schwartz on the piano, will start at 6 p.m. The free program is being presented by the Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center.

Friday Night Craft Group

St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 706 W. 113th Ave., Tampa, hosts a Friday Night Craft Group at 7 p.m.

Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner

The Kiwanis Club of Carrollwood will host its annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser to benefit various Kiwanis charities Friday, April 5 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Elmcroft Assisted Living Facility, 2626 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa. The $5 fee includes  a full spaghetti dinner -- eat in or take out.

The ITT Tech Team will host a car wash and garage sale to raise funds for the Relay for Life Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Village Presbyterian Church, 13115 S. Village Dr., Tampa.

Gifted Conference

The Florida Association for the Gifted will host a conference Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Corbett Preparatory School of IDS, 12015 Orange Grove Dr., Tampa. The conference will offer 50 sessions presented by some of the top gifted educators in the field. The $85 registration fee includes a continental breakfast, luncheon, silent and live auction, and an annual membership in the FLAG.

March Madness

Lee Roy Selmon's, 14457 N. Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, will host March Madness Friday through Sunday, featuring TVs tuned to all the NCAA games, new menu items and new drink specials.
