$16-Million Gaither High Upgrade on Schedule

The school, 16200 N. Dale Mabry Highway, will re-open next month with a slew of renovations.

A fresh coat of paint. New flooring. Enclosed stairways.

Those are among upgrades that students who enter Gaither High School this fall will experience as the result of a construction overhaul designed to spruce up the 28-year-old Carrollwood school.

The $16-million project , said John Williams, project coordinator.

"They'll be done in time for the school year to begin," he said.

Williams said the project was done in five phases, and that workers are finishing up the last phase at 16200 N. Dale Mabry Highway this month.

Other facelifts to the school have included replacing the mechanical and electrical systems, upgrading the fire alarm systems and intercoms, and adding fire sprinklers, Williams said.

Students at the school who are returning this fall will have the chance to learn on a new campus.

"Students who've been there since 2011," Williams said, "will get to see the completion of the project."

Gaither alums/parents: What do you think about the renovations at Gaither?

Nice article but Gaither High School is a 28 yr old Northdale school not a Carrollwood school... And we are proud to have both Gaither High & Claywell Elementary in our community and both are outstanding.
