Free Library Programs Include Legos, Hip-Hop and Therapy Dogs

The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative recently released its calendar of April events - which includes fun stuff like using legos to make interactive projects - at libraries in the Carrollwood area.

The Jimmie Keel Regional Library, 2902 W. Bearss Avenue, and the North Tampa Branch Library, 8916 North Boulevard, are two local libraries hosting events this month.

Find out below what's going on at those locations:

• LEGO My Library! will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at the Keel library. This event is for kids in grades K through 5, and allows them to make an interactive project.
• Art After School will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at the North Tampa library for kids aged 6-12.
• Amazing Race will be played at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10 at the North Tampa library as part of National Library Week. Teams must register by April 6.
• Library catalog BINGO! will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at the North Tampa library.
• LIB Network will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at the North Tampa library to teach teens and adults how to download and stream videos from the Access Video database, and how to download music.
• Paws to Read will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 at the Keel library. The event allows children to practice reading to a certified therapy dog, and do a craft project.
• Spring Tonic Tai Chi will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday April 16, 23 and 30 at the Keel library. This event is for adults.
• Create a Legacy, Not A Mess, will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 16 at the North Tampa library to help adults un-clutter their lives.
• Grossology will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 23 at the North Tampa library. This event allows kids grades K-5 to learn gross facts about things like saliva, and make a project.
• Art of the Mixtape will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 to allow teens to join a weekly hip-hop radio show to learn how to make music.
• Cuban Travelogue will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 to allow adults to hear about a couple's recent trip to Cuba.
• Teen Poetry Jam will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 at the Keel library to celebrate National Poetry Month. Refreshments will be provided at this event for teens in grades 6 to 12.
• Lastly, an interactive kung-fu movie will be shown at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 30 at the North Tampa library. This event is for children.
