Downpours Soak Carrollwood

Carrollwood and Northdale residents hoping to enjoy a little outdoor time over the next few days might be out of luck.

The National Weather Service’s Ruskin office is calling for a strong likelihood of rain through Wednesday night into Thursday.

“(There’s) deep moisture that’s going to be brought in through our area,” said Michael Lewis, a weather service meteorologist. “Intermittent showers and thunderstorms (are likely).”

Rain chances hover around 70 percent for Wednesday and drop down to about 40 percent by night into Thursday. Things should start to clear up a little from there, Lewis said.

While rain won’t be constant, anyone venturing outdoors might want to be mindful of possible thunderstorms and bringing along an umbrella wouldn’t be a bad idea either, Lewis said.

We’re in for “little pop-up kinds of showers and thunderstorms (with) really, really heavy showers,” he said. “There’s so much moisture (out there), it’s got to come down at some point.”
