Dog Poop Problems Getting Carrollwood Down?

Reminders to clean up after Fido have gone out in two of the area's biggest neighborhoods.

Man’s best friend might be loyal, loving and downright adorable, but dog droppings just aren’t appreciated by most people.

That’s the message being sent out in two of Carrollwood’s biggest neighborhoods as a push is on to get pet owners to clean up after their critters.

“Dog feces may contain such ‘goodies’ as parvovirus, whipworms, hookworms, roundworms, threadworms, campylobacteriosis, giardia, and coccidia,” a reminder on the Carrollwood Village website reads. “If left by a resident in the common grasses, these parasites will contaminate the water, soil, and can even cause infection in both pets and humans (especially children).”

That community has issued a plea to residents to just pick up the poop as they walk their dogs.

Carrollwood Village isn’t alone in facing dog doo woes either. It seems Original Carrollwood residents are also having a bit of a dog poop scooping issue.

“Doooo Be Courteous,” reads a reminder in the July issue of The Caroler. The community’s newsletter goes on to say, “Please pick up after your dog in our neighbourhood. And, don’t forget, leashes are required by Hillsborough County Ordinance.”
