County Seeks Nominations for 2010 Neighborhood Recognition Awards

Deadline extended to March 18

The Hillsborough County Office of Neighborhood Relations has extended the deadline for nominations for the 2010 Neighborhood Recognition Awards.

The awards are designed to acknowledge organizations in neighborhoods that have been active in civic affairs and that have worked collectively to improve their communities and the lives of residents.

An award will be given in each of the following categories:

• Best Association Web site

• Best Beautification Project

• Best Crime Watch or Safety Program

• Best Environmental Project

• Best Newsletter

• Best Umbrella Association

• Most Successful Special Event

• Most Successful Youth Program

The deadline for applications is March 18. Winners will be announced later this month, and the awards will be presented during the county's Neighborhoods Conference, which will be at Hillsborough Community College's Dale Mabry Campus on April 2.

Applications are available at the county center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. on the first floor, or by going to www.hillsboroughcounty.org/onr.

Applicants must be a neighborhood, civic association, homeowner or crime watch group within Hillsborough County, Tampa, Plant City or Temple Terrace to be eligible.
