Carrollwood Village Hosting 9th Annual Kid's Day

The event will be held on Saturday, May 12

Pony rides. A petting zoo with bunnies and goats. Bounce houses.

That's a snippet of what officials say the Carrollwood Village Kid's Day 2012 will offer from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at Carrollwood Village Millenium Garden, 4535 W. Village Drive.

The event also promises games, storytelling from local children's authors and arts and crafts. Another bonus: Admission and parking are free.

"It's a win-win for everybody," said Maria Hochwarth-Alvarez, who is organizing the event.

Kid's Day began in 2004, Hochwarth-Alvarez said, with the goal of putting together an event for kids in Carrollwood. The event is financed from sponsors and some vendor fees for participants, she said.

Now, about 1,500 people attend, Hochwarth-Alvarez said.

"It's a fun event to bring the kids to, the day before Mother's Day," she said.

Maria Patterson, executive director of the Carrollwood Area Business Association, said the event has a wide variety of activities for kids.

"It's a great event, and they have quite a few vendors," she said. "It's a nice event, and we (CABA) like to participate."
