Carrollwood Relay For Life Just Around the Corner

A total of 44 teams have signed up so far for the April 12 event at Chamberlain High School.

The clock is running out for the nearly 430 participants who have signed up to battle cancer on the local level by raising awareness and funding for the American Cancer Society.

The Relay For Life of Carrollwood gets under way April 12 at 6 p.m. on the grounds of Chamberlain High School, 9401 North Blvd. And while the event isn’t until Friday, participants have been hard at work raising money in advance of big day.

They’ve been so busy, in fact, the 44 teams who are signed up for this year’s fundraiser have logged almost $30,000 in donations and they’re not done yet. In addition to any last-minute fundraisers this week, the teams will also seek to raise money during the event that starts at April 12 and runs through the night and into the morning hours of April 13.

Teams have created a full list of activities starting at 8 p.m. and running through 8:15 a.m. the next morning when relay participants and supporters can take part in a yoga class, according to the event’s website.

Anyone who wants to come out to the event and support the teams is welcome to do so, but keep in mind every team will be stumping for extra donations. That means having a few dollars to help out the cause might be in order.
