500 Florida Virtual School Full Time students and their families paid a visit to Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo on Wednesday, October 30 to explore the zoo’s exhibits, animals and attractions.  Florida Virtual School Full Time (FLVS FT), the statewide kindergarten-12 virtual public school, hosted the field trip for students to learn core science concepts in a fun, real-world setting, while also building friendship and community for the students and their families.

The FLVS FT field trip addressed four separate science education benchmarks required by the state of Florida.

From historic Key West to the capital city of Tallahassee, Florida’s diverse resources are part of the curriculum at FLVS FT.  The virtual public school hosts frequent field trips throughout the state that bring classroom lessons to life through nature outings that highlight Florida’s wildlife and ecosystems; history tours that trace the impact of the past on the present; and museum visits and excursions that connect classroom concepts to real-world applications.
