Anita M. Rubino, of Mountain Lakes, Receives Alumni Award at NJIT’s Annual Black-Tie Fundraiser

Anita M. Rubino, of Mountain Lakes, was awarded the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Edward F. Weston Medal for Professional Achievement at Celebration 2013, the university’s annual black-tie benefit dinner, on November 8, 2013 at the Pleasantdale Chateau, West Orange. The Weston Medal is presented to alumni in recognition of outstanding personal, professional, and civic achievement and commitment to the development of the university.

Entertainment was provided by the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Roberta Flack. Proceeds from the sold-out event will be used toward endowed scholarships for students at NJIT.  Since 1995, many of NJIT’s most generous supporters have gathered annually for Celebration, a black-tie affair that has raised more than $4.6 million in scholarship endowment funds for students at New Jersey’s science and technology university. A festive evening featuring dinner and live entertainment, Celebration also honors individuals for achievements beneficial to the state and our nation, as well as organizations exceptional for their commitment to NJIT’s mission.  

Rubino is currently the owner of the EVOS Carrollwood Restaurant in Carrollwood, Florida. She became associated with EVOS while pursuing an independent consulting business, AMR Solutions Network, LLC, where she specializes in assisting businesses with their people, organizational and change management strategies.

Prior to her consulting business, Rubino held a variety of executive leadership positions with the Nielsen Company, including Chief Human Resources Officer for Nielsen Media Research, where she was a member of the leadership team responsible for taking the company public. Later responsibilities included redefining the role of Client Services for the company which encompassed client support and training, helpline services and development of an integrated web strategy. Prior to Nielsen, Rubino held a number of progressively responsible positions in the Human Resources arena ranging from staffing and organizational development to senior generalist roles.

Throughout her career, Rubino has consulted on process improvement, organizational effectiveness and systems requirements in various industries.  While pursuing her undergraduate degree at NJIT, she served on a team that established and managed a research center and developed one of the country’s first electronic mail and conferencing systems under the direction of Dr. Murray Turoff and Dr. Roxanne Hiltz, both professors emeriti of information systems at NJIT.

Rubino is an active member of the Alumni Association of NJIT, where she currently chairs both the Alumni Weekend Committee and the Alumni Achievement Awards Committee, has served two terms as Vice President of the Executive Committee, was past chair of the Nominations Committee as well as past Co-Chair of the Florida Gulf Coast Regional Club. She also serves on the Board of Visitors for the College of Science and Liberal Arts, the Editorial Board for NJIT Magazine, the NJIT NEXT Campaign Committee, and the Planned Giving Committee. She received a BS, magna cum laude, in industrial administration from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1983 and an MBA in marketing from Seton Hall University in 1986.
