If you’ve been using Pinterest for awhile, you may already be familiar with Pinterest Business pages. But if not, setting up your business on Pinterest is pretty easy.
1. Join or Convert
When you visit the Pinterest for Business page, you’ll be asked to join as a business or convert an existing account.
If you’ve been using Pinterest personally, but with your business in mind, you can just convert. However, if you’re either new to Pinterest or your personal account is strictly personal, you can join as a new business.
The setup is practically the same for both, and it’s easy to switch before you hit the Submit button if you change your mind halfway through.
2. Create Account
Start with basic account information. First, you’ll want to choose a business type. The choices are limited, so pick one that most closely matches what your business does/is.
After choosing a user name, password, and main contact (that could be you or your social media manager), you’re ready to move on to your profile information.
If you are joining as a new user, this part is simple. Add your business name and choose a Pinterest URL (keep it simple, folks – you want customers to easily get to your page).
If you are converting, this part can be a little tricky. You can add your business name, but your URL will stay the same as your personal page.
If your URL was already related to your business, this is fine… but if your personal page was pinterest.com/omg_sk8ergurrl or something similarly unprofessional, this is the point where you may want to think about creating a separate business page. It’s easy – simply scroll back to the top of the page and select Want to create a new account? Sign up. in the upper right hand corner.
For the About section, you’ll want to add a little information about your business.
You can pull this directly from your website or another social media site (e.g. the About section on your Facebook page). Use descriptive keywords so new customers can find your business when searching Pinterest.
Finally, enter your business’ main website. If you don’t have a website, choose the social media site that is most representative of your business (or the one that gets the most traffic).
After you read through the Terms of Service with a fine-toothed comb, check the I Accept box and submit your information.
3. Start pinning!
This is the fun part. We don’t want to give away too many trade secrets, but remember to keep it visually appealing, repin-friendly, and relevant to your business.
