Walmart Rezoning Moved To January 15
A vote was taken on Tuesday to postpone the vote.
If you've been following the controversial Floyd Road Walmart rezoning case you'll have to wait a bit longer to hear the outcome.
That's because the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners voted to postpone a vote on whether or not to approve the rezoning of the 10-acre lot, which will include a Walmart neighborhood grocery store and a Wawa gas station.
The vote was scheduled to go before the commissioners at the December 11 meeting, however the board voted to move the case to January 15 at the request of Walmart's attorneys.
Anti-Walmart group 813CARe has for months protested the proposed development. The group has collected more than 2,500 letters, emails and petition signatures against the plan. In October, about 200 people showed up at a Hillsborough County Zoning meeting.
Group leaders say their opposition to the rezoning has not changed.
The new vote is scheduled for January 15 at the Land Use Hearing meeting, which begins at 9:00a.m. on the second floor of the County Center at 601 E. Kennedy Blvd.
