Petition Against Walmart Sparks Upcoming Town Hall

A town hall meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2

Last week, Local Voices blogger Leah Wooten wrote a blog post about a developer's proposed rezoning of property at Floyd Road and north Dale Mabry in Carrollwood.

Now, a town hall meeting will be held on the issue, which has sparked an online petition circulating through www.change.org.

Rep. James Grant, R-Tampa, will attend a public meeting at the Carrollwood Recreation Center, 3515 McFarland Road, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2.

During the meeting, Grant will hear what residents have to say about the developer's rezoning proposal to build a Wal-Mart neighborhood market and Wawa convenience store at the site.

What do you think about the proposed development?

North Dale Mabry is "prime shopping" for almost anything you can think of (IF you ignore all the "little guys" that have been forced out of business) for a very long time. There are a number of WALMARTS along the path, but only those that live closest should make this decision. I'm happy with the way thing are.

NO tired of fat Walmart bringing neighborhood values down, paying substandard wages, expecting others to pick up health care for their employees and basically bringing a lower element to the area it is located. There are enough and actually too many. Lets think about the small business owner and supporting our American resources.
