A 22-year-old man is in critical condition following an early morning accident on Gunn Highway.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Madsen was “walking in and out of traffic in the travel lanes” of Gunn Highway, north of Nixon Road, around 1:56 a.m. today, Sept. 21, when he was struck by a 2007 Hyundai.

Madsen was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he remains in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the Hyundai is Ali Ahmed Adawi, 43, of Tampa.

No charges have been filed and the case remains under investigation.
