Finding a little time for health and wellness and a true mental break may be easier said than done.
That said, Palm Yoga located at 13911 N. Dale Mabry, may be the solution you’ve been looking for. Owner Rebecca Wood founded Palm Yoga about seven years ago after moving to Florida.
There are many styles of yoga training, but the style taught at Palm Yoga is the Asanas, which is yoga that focus on postures. This art of relaxation has been known to help people develop a mental calm by learning to focus just on themselves and the positions being executed at that moment.
“You are completely focused, because the training is all about you, and it’s good to come in and allow yourself that mental time to be calm,” said Program Director Anna Weeks.
Classes are offered five days a week, with normal class sizes ranging from 5-10 people in a session. Lunch time classes are also offered with a more relaxed setting to help clients get through the second half of their work day. Patch recently sat down with Weeks to learn more.
Patch: What types of events and seminars are offered at Palm Yoga?
Weeks: Fridays are rotational workshops, where each Friday is a different theme. We have backbend workshops every first Friday of the month. Patch: What does yoga entail, for someone who isn’t familiar with it?
Weeks: We practice alignment-based yoga in order to make these posture accessible to everyone. We have clients ranging from age 5 to 70, so we want to make sure everyone can do the training. There’s a mental benefit that comes from yoga.
