The basketball camps are in full swing

Put a group of 6, 7 and 11-year-olds in a gym with a bunch of pint-sized basketballs, and you usually get a chaotic cacophony of frenzied, disorganized activity.

Not weekday mornings at The Marvin Harvey Camp at IDS. Here, first and second graders are calm, focused and listening.

Why?

They are being taught basketball fundamentals in a fresh and positive manner by professional and accommodating staff. Ivan Romero is the director of The Marvin Harvey Basketball School of Excellence, and he's hosting classes at IDS Summer Camp.

Romero played professional basketball in Colombia for 14 years and has a Bachelor's degree in professonal sports and physical activity from The National School of Sport in Colombia. His partnership with Marvin Harvey and later with IDS were matches made in Heaven.

"Our philosophies completely line up," said Romero. "We take a positive, 'yes' approach to our teaching."

It's no coincidence that Romero very quickly became a teacher at IDS.

The basketball camps as well as 60 other types of camps are open all summer long.
