Local Baseball Coach Scores 100 Wins

Carrollwood Day School’s Nick Rodriquez struck the milestone during the Patriot’s game against Santa Fe Catholic.

Carrollwood Day School’s head baseball coach has been on the job for less than a year and he’s already breaking records.

Nick Rodriguez logged his 100th career win in early March, according to Bay News 9. The victory came when the Patriots topped Santa Fe Catholic 11-1.

Rodriquez was hired by Carrollwood Day School in September 2012, but his coaching career dates back to 2001 when he was hired by Tampa Prep to serve as an assistant. He was the very first varsity baseball coach at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Pasco County and managed to score “five consecutive regional tournament appearances, and back-to-back district titles in 2010 and 2011,” according to an earlier Patch article.

He was named the Pasco County Coach of the Year in 2010.
