The Carrollwood Cultural Center's monthly jazz program is getting a boost this summer by inviting guest musicians to its performances.

'Jazz with Jim,' which combines personal stories with jazz, will welcome Jordan Sanders Hawkins and Cole Hazlitt on June 22 at the Center, 4537 Lowell Road.

Guest musicians for July 27 and August 24 haven't been determined for the 7:30 p.m. concerts, but anyone interested can call 813-269-1310.

Adrienne Hutelmyer, marketing and community relations director at the Center, said the jazz series is a "monthly reunion for local jazz lovers."

Another bonus, Hutelmyer said: treats for sale that are baked and sold by Center volunteers.

"The jazz series this summer will provide local musicians, especially young musicians like Hawkins and Hazlitt, the opportunity to perform with seasoned performers like Burge and the Jazz Directions," she said. "Audiences will enjoy listening to the group's personal stories and educational instruction about each concert's theme and the tunes that fit within those themes."
