If you're looking for a wide array of volunteering opportunities in the area, check out United Way's HandsOn Tampa Bay, or HOT. With HOT, volunteer opportunities in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties are combined in this resource that supports United Way agencies.
The HOT calendar includes activities at venues such as: Lowry Park Zoo, the Salvation Army, Metropolitan Ministries and the Hillsborough County Foster Parents Association.

no way would I volunteer with them.
I've worked steadily since I was 19 years old, and the one time that I needed assistance when I lost a job, I called "211", and they nicely told me that they really couldn't do anything for me...no help with food, electricity bill, nothing. They did suggest that I contact some churches in my area.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS.
