Update: Bullet Found on Hillsborough County School Bus
All Hillsborough County schools are already on modified lockdown as a result of the shootings in Connecticut.
Update 12:43 p.m. Dec. 17: Law enforcement officials have cleared Liberty Middle and Wharton High schools and have found no additional ammunition or weapons, according to the Hillsborough County school district. Students at Turner Elementary are still being interviewed. All Hillsborough County schools remain under modified lockdown as a safety precaution and to provide students with an extra sense of security in light of Friday's shootings in Connecticut.
A bullet found on a school bus that dropped off kids at Turner Elementary, Liberty Middle and Wharton High this morning has prompted an investigation at all three schools.
No disturbances have been reported at Carrollwood area schools.
According to Hillsborough County school district officials, the bullet was found on the floor of a school bus this morning after drop offs had been made at all three schools.
“Because those schools fall in different jurisdictions, both TPD and HCSO
are involved,” a district media release says. “At this time, the schools are in modified lockdown and we are bringing in all the students who rode the bus today, interviewing the students, and searching backpacks and lockers.”
