Students Sent Home After Bomb Threat at Carrollwood Day School

School has been canceled for the rest of the day, officials said.

A bomb threat was called into Carrollwood Day School at 8:04 a.m. today, according to Debbie Carter, spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

After the threat was received, a school official called the sheriff's office to report the threat, Carter said. It's unknown who called in the bomb threat or what was said on the call.

A few hours later, the sheriff's office's bomb squad "cleared the call" after being unable to locate a bomb at the school, 1515 W. Bearss Avenue, Carter said.

Around 11:30 a.m., school officials canceled school for the remainder of the day. A message on the school's voicemail system alerted parents that school was no longer in session.

The investigation is ongoing.
